Massage Therapy Treatment
Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage therapy is a clinically-oriented healthcare option that helps alleviate the discomfort associated with every day occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions. Massage therapy can be used as a treatment for both acute and chronic conditions. RMTs work with a wide variety of patients in the treatment of illness, injury rehabilitation and disability.
Massage therapy should only be provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT). An RMT is a primary healthcare provider in Ontario.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy Treatment
Lymphatic drainage massage is a series of gentle techniques that can help reduce swelling, fluid retention and puffiness. The massage consists of light, rhythmic strokes and a gentle, pumping technique to move lymph fluid through the body. This treatment works to stimulate the lymphatic system and encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products and excess fluids away from the tissues and back into the circulatory system and improve immune function.
Cupping with Massage Therapy Treatment
Dynamic cupping is a massage technique that involves moving suction cups over to lift the skin and underlying tissues to stimulate blood flow and lymphatic drainage, treat muscle tension, pain, promote healing, improve flexibility and range of motion and reduce scarring. It is used in conjunction with other therapeutic massage techniques as a portion of the treatment.
Aromatherapy Massage Treatment
Using essential oils for therapeutic benefits, commonly for immune support, stress relief, relaxation, skin care, respiratory health, sleep enhancement, muscle tension and pain, mood enhancement, and emotional balance. Essential oils are the highly aromatic substances found in flowers, wood, roots, rind and leaves of different plants. When we interact with essential oils, we harness the power of all the chemical components that each plant has in a concentrated form. The two most common ways that essential oils interact with our bodies are through inhalation or topical application. The highest-quality essential oils start with healthy plants, grown organically in their native climate without the use of chemical pesticides. The essential oils selected are certified organic whenever possible, wildcrafted or organically grown in communities around the world where certification is not available. Because essential oils are so potent, they must always be diluted with a carrier product before putting them on the skin. The results are aromatically enchanting, therapeutically effective and 100% pure. They offer immense therapeutic benefit – even when used sparingly.
Not recommended if your are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Prenatal Massage Therapy Treatment
Prenatal massage therapy aims to relax tense muscles, ease pain, improve circulation and mobility, and help you feel well during pregnancy. Prenatal massage is customized to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. Carrying a baby inside you changes your center of gravity and puts a lot of stress on your body. Pregnancy also relaxes your ligaments making your pelvic joints less stable and changing your posture.
